The retailers expect to improve lighting quality while seeing a 70% reduction in energy usage. And the company said that “We are excited to announce these new orders to serve three major retail chains with our LED lighting products. Our lighting technology is designed to deliver exactly what our customers want – lights that make their product displays “pop”.

According to CamGaN, "Our solutions harness novel, patent-protected technologies that increase the epiwafer throughput of standard MOCVD reactors by more than 40%. By increasing throughput without compromising quality, this technology offers the ability to decrease costs of LED dies by up to 80%."

In addition, Belgian company EpiGaN and Welsh wafer maker IQE also have GaN-on-Si technology. Despites of that, Plessey pointed out, "We believe this acquisition positions us among the first commercial players to successfully manufacture high-brightness LEDs on 6in. silicon substrates."

Taiwan semiconductor and panel equipment maker Gallant Precision Machining (GPM), reported November revenues of led high bay light , which was of NT$319 million in October. GPM's revenues for the first 11 months of 2010 increased 57.4% from a year earlier to total NT$2.96 billion.
