To secure stable supply of LED backlights, Amtran is now in talk with Everlight to jointly build a LED packaging factory in China, and a consensus is expected to be reached in the fourth quarter of this year at the earliest.According to the company, its sales arm, Vizio, is very likely to further boost share of the market, as Japanese brands like Sony and Sharp have suffered declining market shares and operating losses in North America so far this year. The firm has moved to work with LED makers, in a bid to explore the segment for increasingly popular LED-backlit LCD TVs.
