In addition, SPDI allows fixture-by-fixture programmability based on clock time, motion detection and ambient light levels, providing enhanced security and the ability for customers to raise and lower illumination levels as needed in order to reap additional energy savings.

Taiwan-based LED chipmaker, is to join hand with the leading LED packager Everlight Electronics to establish an LED packaging factory in China, the Taiwan Economic News reports yesterday, citing industry sources.Amtran projects its shipment of LCD TV with LED backlight to reach 2-3 million units next year from 30,000-strong units this year, according to the report. To secure stable supply of LED backlights, Amtran is now in talk with Everlight to jointly build a LED packaging factory in China, and a consensus is expected to be reached in the fourth quarter of this year at the earliest.According to the company, its sales arm, Vizio, is very likely to further boost share of the market, as Japanese brands like Sony and Sharp have suffered declining market shares and operating losses in North America so far this year. The firm has moved to work with LED makers, in a bid to explore the segment for increasingly popular LED-backlit LCD TVs.
