The platform is composed of three discrete elements that work in concert to create a programmable “building fabric.” The three components include the Redwood Engine, a central driver that provides and modulates power; the Redwood Adapter, a group of sensors at each light fixture; and the Redwood Wall Switch. The system, connected with Tyco Electronics low-voltage cabling, facilitates “plug-and-play” behavior to reduce installation time.

Cree says it will be reducing the price of its award-winning LR24 LED troffer by 15 percent to reduce upfront cost and accelerate the LED lighting revolution.

Meanwhile, BOE's 8G plant scheduled to start mass production in 2011, LED backlight unit (BLU) demand from BOE was expected to surge. Market sources noted, Currently all LED Linear high bay light notebook products were LED backlit. BOE's overall LED demand from its 5G and 6G plants was expected to exceed one billion chips in 2011, and to over seven billion chips when BOE's advanced production lines came online in the future.
