the product itself benefits from optimum

We have been extremely pleased with the energy savings and reduced operating cost we’ve seen with the new Dialight fixtures in the cold storage facility,” said Tim Schofield, Financial Controller with MMD. “In fact, we’ve been so impressed with the performance and warranty that we’ve begun retrofitting nearly all of our other facilities to Dialight led linear high bay light to improve efficiency, lighting efficacy and safety throughout our operations.”

With the new cold storage facility now complete, MMD has since purchased an additional 440 Dialight fixtures for a one to- one replacement of existing 400W metal halide fixtures at 11 other warehouse buildings. At one banana storage facility, the retrofit has earned rave reviews from the employees who immediately noticed a vast improvement over the previous lighting conditions. The reduced heat output of the LEDs has also helped improve temperature maintenance in the banana facility. The chillers no longer have to work so hard during warmer weather to keep the temperature down and the product itself benefits from optimum, even temperatures throughout.

Furthermore, the long-life performance of the Dialight LEDs will significantly reduce MMD’s lighting maintenance needs, which were once a costly and cumbersome exercise. Now, rather than halting production to bring in a scissor lift and change bulbs every few months, the facility can enjoy years of reliable, steady light output with virtually zero maintenance.

Supplementing the energy and maintenance savings, MMD has also been able to take advantage of a nearly 20 percent tax break from the British government as part of the UK’s Enhanced Capital Allowance (ECA) scheme. The program allows companies that invest in energy-efficient equipment and machinery to write off the entire expense in the year in which the investment is made, rather than amortize the cost over several years. Similar programs are also available in the U.S. for Designlights? Consortium qualified products, such as the led high bay light fixtures. “I don’t understand why everyone doesn’t go LED,” Schofield quipped. “Between the energy and maintenance savings, and the tax incentives, the switch to LED fittings was a no brainer.”

LED recessed downlighting options for general lighting in commercial

Cooper Lighting, a division of Cooper Industries plc (NYSE: CBE), has expanded its Halo LED H7 Collection offering additional choices in LED color temperatures and higher lumen options. The 6” LED downlight product line expansion–from the original Halo LED 600 Series–now includes the Halo LED 900 Series and Halo LED 1200 Series, offering a wide and versatile selection of energy-efficient LED recessed downlighting options for general lighting in commercial, retail, institutional and residential applications. Designed for new construction projects or to retrofit existing 6” nominal compatible housings (with an Edison screw base adapter included with the module), the Halo LED H7 Collection features excellent color rendering (80 CRI) and offers the industry’s widest selection of color temperatures (2700K, 3000K, 3500K and 4000K). The superior optical design yields productive beam lumens providing smooth, even illumination, excellent cutoff and extremely low glare. Consuming less than 15W, ...

Semiconductor lighting industry in Shenzhen develops rapidly in recent years

Orion’s LED fixture, designed to perform at temperatures as low as -20 degrees Fahrenheit, has been retrofitted in more than 3 million square feet of freezer and cold-storage space in facilities across the nation in the past several months. Companies with Orion LED technology in their facilities include US Foods, Sysco, Americold, and Save-A-Lot. The three approved Orion LED fixture models vary based on application-specific lens configuration. Orion’s LED fixtures are designed to replace traditional high intensity discharge and T8 and T5 fluorescent fixtures. Orion’s LED fixtures use 123 watts compared to 400-watt HIDs and 298-watt fluorescents. According to its Web site, the DLC is a collaboration of utility companies and regional energy efficiency organizations committed to raising awareness of the benefits of efficient lighting in commercial buildings. In order to be included on the DLC’s QPL, a product must meet or exceed specific industry standards. QPL inclusion is required for c...

Entertainment applications will adopt the new LEDs

The number and breadth of applications that require amber LEDs is tremendous,” said Frank Harder, VP of Product Marketing at Philips Lumileds. “Markets including automotive, entertainment, roadway, signaling, and many others use amber LEDs. With better efficiency and more light output, LUXEON Rebel PC amber makes it that much easier to reduce energy consumption with an environmentally friendly product.lamps to LEDs because they didn’t produce enough light and couldn’t operate effectively at higher temperatures. With the advances provided by LUXEON Rebel PC Amber, yellow traffic signals will be converted, warning lights and beacons on vehicles and obstructions will switch and entertainment applications will adopt the new LEDs. numbers of amber LEDs. With LUXEON Rebel PC Amber, manufacturers will be able to use fewer LEDs and lower other component costs because of the improved light output and particularly the stable color over temperature, something that has been problematic for many ...
