the time is right to engage with LED technology

Leaman has been executive vice president and general manager of OSRAM’s global Automotive Lighting division in Munich, Germany since 2006. His 25-year lighting career has included executive positions in OSRAM SYLVANIA’s automotive lighting, materials and components, and general lighting businesses. Leaman is a graduate of Carnegie-Mellon University, with a Bachelor of Science degree in administrative and management science, mathematics and economics.

Jerabek began his career with SYLVANIA as a sales engineer in 1973 and occupied a variety of sales, marketing, operations and general management positions before being named president and CEO in 2001. He holds a Bachelor of Science degree from Georgia Institute of Technology and an M.B.A. degree from Boston University.

The seminar is with the purpose of helping lighting manufacturers better understand the current position of LEDs, where the future lies and to evaluate if the time is right to engage with LED technology.

The subjects to be discussed will include the current state of the market; how lighting will look in 2020; government policy and roadmap for efficient lighting; standards; and essential design parameters for luminaire designers.

The event is aimed at key decision makers in lighting manufacturers or importers such as managing directors and financial directors, who will gain a better understanding on whether the time is right to engage with LED technology and how to go about it.

It will also be helpful to lighting designers and technical managers, who will gain a better understanding of the essential des

Semiconductor lighting industry in Shenzhen develops rapidly in recent years

Orion’s LED fixture, designed to perform at temperatures as low as -20 degrees Fahrenheit, has been retrofitted in more than 3 million square feet of freezer and cold-storage space in facilities across the nation in the past several months. Companies with Orion LED technology in their facilities include US Foods, Sysco, Americold, and Save-A-Lot. The three approved Orion LED fixture models vary based on application-specific lens configuration. Orion’s LED fixtures are designed to replace traditional high intensity discharge and T8 and T5 fluorescent fixtures. Orion’s LED fixtures use 123 watts compared to 400-watt HIDs and 298-watt fluorescents. According to its Web site, the DLC is a collaboration of utility companies and regional energy efficiency organizations committed to raising awareness of the benefits of efficient lighting in commercial buildings. In order to be included on the DLC’s QPL, a product must meet or exceed specific industry standards. QPL inclusion is required for c...

Entertainment applications will adopt the new LEDs

The number and breadth of applications that require amber LEDs is tremendous,” said Frank Harder, VP of Product Marketing at Philips Lumileds. “Markets including automotive, entertainment, roadway, signaling, and many others use amber LEDs. With better efficiency and more light output, LUXEON Rebel PC amber makes it that much easier to reduce energy consumption with an environmentally friendly product.lamps to LEDs because they didn’t produce enough light and couldn’t operate effectively at higher temperatures. With the advances provided by LUXEON Rebel PC Amber, yellow traffic signals will be converted, warning lights and beacons on vehicles and obstructions will switch and entertainment applications will adopt the new LEDs. numbers of amber LEDs. With LUXEON Rebel PC Amber, manufacturers will be able to use fewer LEDs and lower other component costs because of the improved light output and particularly the stable color over temperature, something that has been problematic for many ...
