The LED lighting brand section has been signed up by 200 exhibitors

The organizer Photonic Industry and Technology Development Association (PIDA) has disclosed that the 2012 exhibitor number and booth number represent an 18% and 17% increase from the 2011 event, respectively. Another impressive fact is that 50% more mainland Chinese exhibitors will participate in the show this year, compared to 2011.

According to PIDA, horticultural applications of LED lighting and LED lighting brands will take center stage at this show this year. The LED lighting brand section has been signed up by 200 exhibitors.

PIDA estimates that Taiwan can save around 50 billion kilowatt hours of electricity a year should LED replace all conventional lamps. The organization pointed out that LED lighting penetration has reached over 40% in Japan after the March 11, 2011 earthquake.

 At the Guangzhou International Lighting Exhibition, Philips has discussed China’s LED transformation in the lighting industry with China Association of Lighting Industry (CALI) and China Solid State Lighting Alliance (CSSLA). During this panel discussion, China’s leading industry leaders will also discuss opportunities how the government, trade associations and companies can collaborate in driving this transformation.

In order to take maximum advantage of opportunities

Recently, China government promoted LED solid state lighting and listed Beijing as a level-one city for demonstration. Meanwhile, BOE's 8G plant scheduled to start mass production in 2011, LED backlight unit (BLU) demand from BOE was expected to surge. Additionally, Everlight was listed as one of BOE's backlighting suppliers. In order to take maximum advantage of opportunities, Everlight decided to set up a production plant in Beijing. Market sources noted, Currently all LED Linear high bay light notebook products were LED backlit. BOE's overall LED demand from its 5G and 6G plants was expected to exceed one billion chips in 2011, and to over seven billion chips when BOE's advanced production lines came online in the future. If BOE's 8G line fully adopted LED backlighting, BOE would need the support of about 20 LED production lines, or five billion LED chips per year, and generate CNY10 billion (US$1.5 billion) worth of industry value.
