An elementary school bus hit a tree near a golf course outside Los Angeles on Thursday afternoon

An elementary school bus hit a tree near a golf course outside Los Angeles on Thursday afternoon, injuring 11 students and the driver, authorities said.
Anaheim Police Lt. Bob Dunn said two students and the driver were in critical condition, the Associated Press reported. The others suffered minor injuries.
The Orange Unified School District bus left the road and went up an embankment about 3:40 p.m. near the Anaheim Hills Golf Course. TV images showed the battered yellow coach leaning against a tree.
Firefighters had to free the trapped driver, who was not identified.
The children are enrolled at El Rancho Charter School, about 30 miles east of downtown Los Angeles. Administrators were on the scene, the district said onFacebook.
Andrea Shurtz, who witnessed the crash, told KABC-TV the bus "came flying down the hill and went curb airborne and took out trees along the way."
"The kids are screaming for us," she said, adding that bystanders were "trying to get them to jump out but the slope is so horrible."
"People just came running from everywhere," Shurtz said.
