their proven proficiency in optical

The Bridgelux SMC LED design will enable manufacturers to bond the chip directly onto the printed circuit board (PCB), eliminating the need for an additional substrate or traditional led high bay light. The company says that its chip design provides a high flux density LED with an ultra small footprint and thin profile. It reportedly allows the ability to closely pack multiple chips together for increased performance in applications with limited space such as camera flash, LED light backlighting and general or specialty lighting applications. The design of this chip also has a flat surface for direct deposition of a phosphor layer on the LED die.

"This new patent award demonstrates Bridgelux's focus on driving innovation in core technologies to improve performance and reduce the cost of our lighting technologies," noted Bridgelux's director of R&D, Steve Lester. "The company is aggressively adding to its intellectual property (IP) portfolio. Bridgelux, currently, has over 75 patents filed in the U.S. and over 130 patent applications filed worldwide. Bridgelux's investments in MOCVD and chip design enable the Company to continue to innovate and deliver the right quality and quantity of light for specific SSL applications."

The superior optical design yields productive beam lumens providing smooth, even illumination, excellent cutoff and extremely low glare. Consuming less than 15W, ...

The acquisition expands Johnson Controls lighting services beyond the school

Patriot Taxiway Industries, Inc stepped into aerospace and aeropart manufacturing a little over 20 months ago in Omro, Wisconsin, then transferred to a superior manufacturing plant in Lomira, Wisconsin. Patriot Taxiway president and vetrepreneur, Steven A. Smits, who served in the U.S. Air Force and is still enlisted in the Air National Guard, had a lot weighing on the fulfillment of their first contract. The team comprised of more than 70% veterans, produced and delivered all 2,000 remotely controlled lighting systems on schedule to their international destinations. Smits credited their manufacturing efficiency and the quality of the LED products they provide to the veterans and other team members. The acquisition expands Johnson Controls lighting services beyond the school, healthcare and government markets it currently serves as NES provides lighting upgrade and maintenance solutions largely for retail, commercial, and industrial customers. Johnson Controls also will provide effecti...

Semiconductor lighting industry in Shenzhen develops rapidly in recent years

Orion’s LED fixture, designed to perform at temperatures as low as -20 degrees Fahrenheit, has been retrofitted in more than 3 million square feet of freezer and cold-storage space in facilities across the nation in the past several months. Companies with Orion LED technology in their facilities include US Foods, Sysco, Americold, and Save-A-Lot. The three approved Orion LED fixture models vary based on application-specific lens configuration. Orion’s LED fixtures are designed to replace traditional high intensity discharge and T8 and T5 fluorescent fixtures. Orion’s LED fixtures use 123 watts compared to 400-watt HIDs and 298-watt fluorescents. According to its Web site, the DLC is a collaboration of utility companies and regional energy efficiency organizations committed to raising awareness of the benefits of efficient lighting in commercial buildings. In order to be included on the DLC’s QPL, a product must meet or exceed specific industry standards. QPL inclusion is required for c...
