the amount of electricity used for US lighting by one fourth by 2030

Over the course of the program, the Manufacturing Research and Development area has been funded with $28.2 million in federal funding,led linear high bay light and leveraged $36.8 million in funding from the private sector.

The DOE expects solid-state lighting to reduce the amount of electricity used for US lighting by one fourth by 2030. This would save $15 billion and be the greenhouse gas emissions reduction equivalent of 21 million cars.

Lextar, the LED subsidiary of AU Optronics Corporation (AUO), plans to launch its IPO with a stock price of NT$ 17 on September 29th. The considerable growths in both lighting product business and penetration rate contribute to Lextar’s revenue outperformance in 2H11 compared to 1H11.

Lextar is a LED manufacturer that vertically integrates upstream chips and packages and downstream light sources and light products. The company’s business in the panel sector accounts for 70% of its total led high bay light revenue. Lextar’s parent company AUO is its biggest account, taking up 70% of its shipment.

Recently, China government promoted LED solid state lighting and listed Beijing as a level-one city for demonstration. Meanwhile, BOE's 8G plant scheduled to start mass production in 2011, LED backlight unit (BLU) demand from BOE was expected to surge. Additionally, Everlight was listed as one of BOE's backlighting suppliers. In order to take maximum advantage of opportunities, Everlight decided to set up a production plant in Beijing. Market sources noted, Currently all LED Linear high bay light notebook products were LED backlit. BOE's overall LED demand from its 5G and 6G plants was expected to exceed one billion chips in 2011, and to over seven billion chips when BOE's advanced production lines came online in the future.
