Borealis LED streetlights produce a sharp

The test concludes that Borealis LED streetlights consumed a remarkable average of 57.6% less energy than the HPS streetlights. The goal is to replace all public lighting with LEDs to significantly reduce electricity use and green house gas emissions...a win-win situation for our city budgets and for the environment.”

PolyBrite’s patented LED technology, used in all Borealis lamps and lighting systems, will reduce the city’s operating costs, including lower energy usage and reduced maintenance and bulb replacement. The City of Naperville’s cost saving calculations project an annual GHG (green house gas) savings by 2015 to be 4,739 metric tons of CO2e (Carbon dioxide equivalent) per year and an annual financial savings, by 2015, of at least $500,000 per year once all the streetlights and traffic signal are converted to LED. These estimates are based on a conservative electricity rate and increases in energy costs would result in higher cost savings.

Borealis LED streetlights produce a sharp, pure color without glare and feature an instant “on” with no cold starting as compared to HPS street lights, which typically take several minutes to get to full brightness. Motion sensors and lighting controls can also be used with Borealis LED lighting since they can be turned on and off instantly. Furthermore, Borealis LED streetlights are better equipped to withstand extreme hot and cold temperatures and provide more control over what is illuminated, thus reducing light pollution making it an ideal solution for public lighting.

This closes a gap with the very large goniometers

In addition, Shih said that the requirement will be more flexible than the existing ceiling of 10% stake owned by Chinese investors in existing enterprises and stricter than the 50% ceiling in new joint ventures. The third-wave mainland Chinese investments have been approved by Taiwan Executive Yuan (the Cabinet) and are scheduled to take effect by the end of March. The LGS 250 was developed specifically for the analysis of angle-dependent spatial radiation properties from small to medium-sized SSL luminaires, lamps and LED modules. This closes a gap with the very large goniometers. The horizontal alignment of the Type C coordinate system facilitates a particularly convenient and compact test setup for the system. Measurements can be taken in a range of +/- 160° in the forward direction of the test specimen which may have a maximum diameter of up to 480 mm and a maximum weight of 8 kg. Combined with a spectroradiometer from Instrument Systems, all spectral quantities such as color coord...

LED recessed downlighting options for general lighting in commercial

Cooper Lighting, a division of Cooper Industries plc (NYSE: CBE), has expanded its Halo LED H7 Collection offering additional choices in LED color temperatures and higher lumen options. The 6” LED downlight product line expansion–from the original Halo LED 600 Series–now includes the Halo LED 900 Series and Halo LED 1200 Series, offering a wide and versatile selection of energy-efficient LED recessed downlighting options for general lighting in commercial, retail, institutional and residential applications. Designed for new construction projects or to retrofit existing 6” nominal compatible housings (with an Edison screw base adapter included with the module), the Halo LED H7 Collection features excellent color rendering (80 CRI) and offers the industry’s widest selection of color temperatures (2700K, 3000K, 3500K and 4000K). The superior optical design yields productive beam lumens providing smooth, even illumination, excellent cutoff and extremely low glare. Consuming less than 15W, ...

Semiconductor lighting industry in Shenzhen develops rapidly in recent years

Orion’s LED fixture, designed to perform at temperatures as low as -20 degrees Fahrenheit, has been retrofitted in more than 3 million square feet of freezer and cold-storage space in facilities across the nation in the past several months. Companies with Orion LED technology in their facilities include US Foods, Sysco, Americold, and Save-A-Lot. The three approved Orion LED fixture models vary based on application-specific lens configuration. Orion’s LED fixtures are designed to replace traditional high intensity discharge and T8 and T5 fluorescent fixtures. Orion’s LED fixtures use 123 watts compared to 400-watt HIDs and 298-watt fluorescents. According to its Web site, the DLC is a collaboration of utility companies and regional energy efficiency organizations committed to raising awareness of the benefits of efficient lighting in commercial buildings. In order to be included on the DLC’s QPL, a product must meet or exceed specific industry standards. QPL inclusion is required for c...
