the functions necessary to implement a supercapacitor based LED flash driver solution

Increased resolution in camera phones and standalone digital cameras requires a high intensity LED flash current beyond the capabilities of standard lithium-ion batteries. The XRP6840 alleviates such peak current requirements by constantly sourcing a low controlled current from the system's battery to charge a supercapacitor which in turn provides the power for peak load functions. Charging and discharging parameters of the supercapacitor are completely managed by the XRP6840 and fully programmable via an industry standard I2C interface. The XRP6840 supports high peak current functions in battery operated portable systems while significantly increasing battery life.

The XRP6840 combines and manages in a single device all the functions necessary to implement a supercapacitor based LED flash driver solution. Supporting programmable current in torch and flash modes, the device comes in both two and three channel versions for increased design flexibility and supports up to 600mA of constant charging current. Built around tri-mode charge pump architecture and operating at 2.4MHz, the XRP6840 provides inrush current control and device protection circuitry while a standard I2C interface provides a seamless integration into any system.

In doing so, Rutronik extends its product range of visible and invisible LEDs. Brtled products combine first-class quality with an attractive price-performance ratio. The product range covers standard LEDs, high power LEDs and ultra high power LEDs as well as standard and customised led high bay light, optocouplers, photodiodes and phototransistors up to infrared transmitters, receivers and receiver modules. Together, Rutronik and Brtled focus in particular on white goods markets such as components and displays for cooker control units with a temperature performance of up to 125°C, general and interior lighting and the consumer, communications and computing industries.

while all of hit new record quarterly highs

As a result, to increase greenhouse yields and decrease producers' energy costs, they will team up with Rutgers University, the University of Arizona, Michigan State University, and Orbital Technologies Corp. on the four-year project to improve and evaluate LED lighting for greenhouse use, according to Cary Mitchell, a professor of horticulture and project director for the grant. Total sales from January through September of 2010 hit NT$92.88 billion, up 35% YoY. Meanwhile, operating profit and net profit reached NT$5.67 billion and NT$6.8 billion respectively, with accumulated EPS of NT$3.05 increasing a remarkable 50% YoY. In 3Q10, The Company’s gross margin and operating margin reached 13.9% and 6.7%, up 0.9% and 0.4% QoQ, respectively. Lite-On’s net cash position held steady at NT$11.9 billion, after its recent cash dividend distribution of NT$5 billion. Non-operating items posted a net income of NT$508 million in3Q, with Perlos’ Q3 sales reaching €138 million, up 12% YoY. Perl...

the adoption of energy-efficient LED lighting across their campuses

Nuventix SynJet coolers are available now and already providing silent operation, long life, and optimal cooling to allow designs to incorporate the increased brightness necessary for large-scale commercial and consumer product acceptance. Bias SynPower modules are available in sample quantities. The workshops were key first steps in the launch of a new DOE SSL research and development (R&D) manufacturing initiative to enhance product consistency and quality and to accelerate cost reductions through manufacturing improvements. More than 350 total participants—chip makers, fixture and component manufacturers, and others—joined DOE at the workshops to examine underlying issues related to materials, equipment, and other factors that influence SSL product quality and cost. The Fairfax workshop attendees identified key barriers and recommendations toward lower-cost, higher-quality SSL products, and this input was used to develop a “strawman” roadmap for review at the Vancouver worksho...

LED lighting to reduce both power consumption

The new product is designed for use in bus & taxi stops, benches and walkway coverings and other public spaces. It is set to sell from July 20, exclusive to the Japanese market, targeting municipalities and led linear high bay light private companies. And the two manufacturers also propose its use for a wide range of applications across Japan. Its key features including:Firstly the shelter's solar power generating system can supply electricity for surrounding electrical needs, such as lighting for advertising displays, with excess power being sold to the power utility companies, thus helping to meet expected power shortages in Japan during the summer. Secondly, LED lighting to reduce both power consumption and CO2 emissions at night. Moreover, the shelter can play as emergency power supplier in the event of a disaster, as it has an independent power outlet that could be used to charge mobile phones or other vital electronics. During the several years, LED lights have gradua...
